Responsibilities include leadership and direction of a successful high school basketball program for the lower and upper division boy's basketball team: assessing, identifying and recruitment of qualified student-athletes; coaching and organization of training and conditioning practices and meets; scheduling of competitive Alameda-Contra Costa Athletic League (ACCAL) contests. Created an environment conducive to the development of academic excellence by students-athletes. Prepare, recommend & manage travel and equipment budgets. Monitor the academic progress and advise all student-athletes on their individual graduation scheme. Encourage student-athlete graduates to pursue and continue their education at the college/university level.

• Made national news when in 1999, he suspended not only the players who weren't meeting the academic standard, but the entire teams! When this story first came out it filled the airwaves of talk radio in the bay area with controversy. The team proudly held a record of 13-0.
• Made national news in November 2000 when he drew attention to the deteriorating condition of public schools by kick scooting 88 miles, for 3 days, from Richmond High School to the steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento. He was greeted John Mockley, Interim Secretary of Education, Office of Governor Gray Davis, and met to discuss issues of education.
